Lawatan Penandaaras 5S ke IKBN Bukit Mertajam & PERDA

Berpegang kepada konsep ‘kaizen’ yakni penambahbaikan berterusan, wakil 5S Perpustakaan Sultanah Bahiyah (PSB) yang terdiri daripada Jawatankuasa 5S dan Ketua-Ketua Zon ( AKU la ni) telah mengadakan lawatan penandaarasan ke dua (2) buah jabatan kerajaan di Pulau Pinang. Rombongan seramai 16 orang diketuai oleh Encik Muhammad Mazlan bin Jalla, Penolong Ketua Pustakawan merangkap Pengerusi Jawatankuasa 5S PSB telah bertolak dari Universiti Utara Malaysia seawal jam 8 pagi pada 24 Oktober 2013 (Khamis) yang lalu.

Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN) Bukit Mertajam telah dipilih untuk dilawati oleh kerana statusnya sebagai penerima anugerah Pensijilan Amalan Berkualiti 5S serta telah dicadangkan sebagai tempat yang baik untuk dilawati oleh MPC. Rombongan PSB sangat beruntung kerana telah disambut dan diberi taklimat mengenai dasar pelaksanaan 5S oleh Encik Razman Mustafa, Ketua Jabatan Mekanikal bersama Muhammad Tarmizi Yushak, Timbalan Pengarah Pengurusan Latihan. Lawatan yang memakan masa selama lebih kurang satu jam setengah itu turut melibatkan tinjauan ke bengkel-bengkel kerja bagi menyaksikan proses kerja yang diamalkan secara sistematik dan tersusun.

Seterusnya rombongan 5S PSB bergerak ke Penang Rural Development Authority (PERDA) iaitu sebuah jabatan di bawah seliaan Unit Penyelarasan Pelaksanaan, Jabatan Perdana Menteri. Setibanya di sana, rombongan 5S PSB telah diiring masuk ke dewan PERDA di mana Encik Anuar Shahab, Pengurus Khidmat Pengurusan telah bersedia menunggu untuk memberi taklimat. Banyak input dan perkongsian sepanjang sesi taklimat berlangsung khususnya mengenai peranan PERDA serta proses kerja yang mereka jayakan hingga membolehkan mereka menerima anugerah dari MPC. Sesungguhnya pengalaman ketika mengadakan penandaarasan di PERDA sangat bererti di mana masih terdapat terlalu banyak ruang untuk diperbaiki bagi Perpustakaan Sultanah Bahiyah sendiri. Selain menyaksikan bagaimana semua kakitangan PERDA bekerjasama menjayakan aktiviti 5S, anggota rombongan juga dapat mempelajari selok belok bagaimana untuk bekerja dalam suasana sentiasa mengamalkan proses 5S.

Lawatan penandaarasan 5S ini berakhir sekitar jam 5.15 petang. Okjektif awal untuk menimba ilmu, mempelajari taktik dan teknik serta berkongsi pengalaman bersama kedua-dua buah jabatan ini telah tercapai. Setidak-tidaknya, wakil 5S Perpustakaan Sultanah Bahiyah pulang dengan sebuah semangat untuk melakukan yang lebih baik untuk jabatan pada masa akan datang.
